The late Mr Graham bore his illness with the greatest fortitude, and it was only when he was on the verge of collapse that he discontinued work, at which stage he was removed to the Melbourne Hospital, where he remained on the danger list for several weeks …. Of a quiet and unassuming character, albeit cheerful and quite convincing when it came to a decision of any kind, he enjoyed an integrity which made him a great favourite with all section of the community. He was very fond of all kinds of sport, but swimming was the one which he indulged most. At the inauguration of the Lilydale Amateur Swimming Club he was held in such high regard that he was unanimously appointed captain, and although his illness intervened before swimming activities commenced, his good influence on the younger members of the club was very noticeable.
