Vincent died on June 26, 1972 in Bendigo and is buried at the Bendigo Cemetery along with his wife Flo who died September 1, 1982.
Their granddaughter Pam Foster wrote to us about her grandfather:
I thought you might like to know that he lived a long life despite the horrendous injuries he received in battle. I still remember his ammunition belt blown to pieces on the back of the laundry door.
He told my parents about being hit in battle and his horse staying with him all day and into the night. When the medics came around to collect the injured, they went to him and said something like “here’s another dead one”, to which he replied “no I’m bloody not”. Lucky for me. He never forgot that horse or the loyalty it showed.
